Terms of Service

Last updated: July 3, 2026

Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and SimplyAuth LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("SimplyAuth," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using SimplyAuth ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Description of Service

SimplyAuth is a secure messaging app built around Verified Sessions — short, end-to-end encrypted conversations for sharing sensitive information such as passwords, account numbers, and other private details that would otherwise be sent over insecure channels. Messages are encrypted on your device, and our servers store only ciphertext (we cannot read your messages). A session is limited to two people, ends after a fixed time and message limit, and its contents are automatically wiped from both devices when the room closes. No phone number is required to use Verified Sessions.

Underpinning the service is a real-time identity verification tool that lets trusted contacts confirm each other's identity over a phone call using time-limited, cryptographically random verification phrases, helping protect against phone scams and social engineering. SimplyAuth also includes safety features — scheduled check-ins and silent duress / SOS alerts to trusted contacts.

Not a Substitute for Emergency Services

SimplyAuth is not an emergency service and is not a substitute for calling 911 or your local emergency number.

The distress / panic-word feature is designed to alert trusted contacts and is provided on a best-effort basis. Notification delivery depends on third-party services (Apple Push Notifications, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging) and is not guaranteed. In any emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) directly.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App to harass, threaten, or deceive others
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or abuse the verification system
  • Create accounts on behalf of others without their consent
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to circumvent subscription limits through fraudulent means

Subscription

SimplyAuth offers a free tier and a paid Personal subscription. The free tier lets you receive Verified Sessions and reply, accept connection requests, verify identity, and use safety check-ins at no cost. Personal — $0.99 per month or $7.99 per year, billed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) — adds starting your own sessions and sending connection requests. New users get a 30-day Personal trial. Prices vary by region and are displayed at the time of purchase. Subscription terms and free trial eligibility are set by Apple and Google. All sales are final; refunds are handled by the respective platform per their policies.

If your Personal subscription is not renewed, you simply return to the free tier — the app is never locked and your data is retained. You can restore Personal at any time by resubscribing.

Identity verification and the safety features — scheduled check-ins and duress / SOS alerts — remain free for all users and are never gated behind a subscription.

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date via your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Intellectual Property

All content, branding, and code within SimplyAuth are owned by or licensed to us. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SimplyAuth LLC, its officers, members, employees, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to failed notifications, missed distress alerts, or any harm resulting from unauthorized access to your account. Your sole and exclusive remedy for any dispute with us is to stop using the App.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under or related to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Lake County, Illinois, and you consent to the jurisdiction of such courts.
